INSPIRATION & IMAGINATION
I can’t recall all the times I’ve been in need of inspiration or words of wisdom - simplistic, yet complex quotes, or just a picture to look at. That’s why I’ve created this page – for those of you who need to take a break from the daily grind of life – to just exist with something profound - something beautiful – something meaningful – something simplistic. I hope this collection, which features some of my favorite photographs and quotes, will not only demonstrate my passion for simplicity – but that something you see or read on this page will resonate with you and reinvigorate your hopes and dreams.
“All grown-ups were children first. (But few remember it).”
- Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
I find “the calm” or my “inner zen” through mediation. Here’s what I suggest, choose one of these songs I’ve selected, close your eyes, and for the duration of the song – take deep belly breaths and let your body rest naturally or gently stretch as you see fit. No strenuous movements, no worries – nothing, for the duration of this exercise, you are free. If a thought creeps into your mind while you are resting/meditating, then recognize it and let it go.
When the music stops, rub your hands together vigorously until they feel warm. Then, cup your hands over your eyes. Slowly remove your hands as you open your eyes. You should feel … relaxed, of course.
1. Once There Was a Hushpuppy – from the feature Beasts of the Southern Wild - I chose this song because it’s a beautiful instrumental and because the song feels energetic and uplifting.
2. Cloud Atlas End Title – from the feature Cloud Atlas – I chose this song because it’s a beautiful, soothing orchestral score that soothes in the beginning and builds a cathartic end. The combination of piano and violin are perfect for relaxation/mediation.
3. Sombience – by EarthRise SoundSystem f. Eccodek – I chose Sombience because of its raw power and energy. This is the song I use during my morning yoga practice and mediation.
This page will be updated periodically with new images and new quotations! Be sure to come back (as often as you’d like).
