The Bobby’s (History)

History of The Bobby’s

Welcome to “The Bobby’s,” a page dedicated to my popular culture interests. I hope this page offers you snapshots in time – and that the movies, music, television, and pro wrestling (if that’s your thing) referenced here remind you of your own memories and years gone by.

This page is wholly unofficial, purely subjective, and was technically established in 2002 (originally as “The Bobby James Awards”), in response to a “Best of 2002” edition of WWE Magazine. Dissatisfied with some of the WWE’s year-end selections, I began creating my own year-end lists.

Since then, I’ve maintained a personal year-end ranking system, which has grown to encompass popular culture more broadly. I’ve ranked film, television, and music, in addition to professional wrestling. Below is a complete history of “The Bobby’s.” Please take some time to explore and feel free to share your thoughts.

Order of Categories: (1) Film, (2) Television, (3) WWE, (4) Music, (5) AEW, (6) Impact Wrestling

Fun-Facts:   Musician CODY LONGO responded to The 2013 Bobby-james Awards: Music + Top 50 Songs post (via twitter, 12/31/2013), making it the most viewed Bobby-james Awards post in history! The same post also received a comment from Canadian pop artist CODY KAREY (5/6/2014)! Seems like the “Awards” are a hit with people named Cody! They’re not alone though, professional wrestler GAIL KIM read and expressed her gratitude for the recognition (via twitter, 12/19/2013) in The 2013 Bobby-james Awards: Best of Impact Wrestling post!

The 2014 Bobby James Awards: IMPACT were well-received by professional wrestlers DAVEY RICHARDS (of The Wolves) and ETHAN CARTER III (via twitter, 12/3/2014). The 2014 Bobby James Awards: Television captured the attention (responses, favorites and retweets) of Covert Affairs actress KARI MATCHETT and the USA original series Sirens (verified show twitter account) and Sirens actors KEVIN BIGLEY and KEVIN DANIELS (via twitter, 2/5/2015).

2025 UPDATE: Obviously, these interactions were from a time when social media was used for engagement, interaction, and was generally more constructive.
