ENTERTAINMENT news: Boy Meets World Sequel Series and more

It’s been announced that the popular show Boy Meets World (1993-2000) will be getting a “sequel series” titled Girl Meets World.  The new series by creator Ben Savage is set to debut on the Disney Channel in 2014.  Savage is keeping hush-hush on the details, but we do know this so far:

– The series will focus on Riley, Topanga and Cory’s 13 year-old daughter and her “edgy” best friend Maya (who will be like Shawn was).

– Riley will have a 14 year-old brother named Elliot.

– Cory is a history teacher! (a.k.a. the new Mr. Feeny)

At 10 p.m. and midnight showings, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 raked in an estimated $30.4 million, on its way to grossing $71.2 million on Friday.  Related to the film’s release, a man was arrested in Springfield, Missouri after planning to replicate the theater shootings that took place earlier this year.  The man was turned in to authorities by his mother and arrested before being able to carry out his plan.

Complete box-office estimates to be revealed Sunday afternoon, but it’s expected that Breaking Dawn Part 2 will earn near $160 million in its debut weekend as it eyes a franchise record.

Yesterday, ABC announced the cancellation of series 666 Park Avenue and Last Resort, while CBS announced plans to retire freshman series Partners.  The series’ are all victims of low-ratings.

Britney Spears and will.i.am are collaborating on a new single “Scream & Shout,” set to debut on US radios on November 19.  The accompanying music video will premier on the Thanksgiving edition of X-Factor.

That’s a wrap!
